Minnesota Lynx vs Dallas Wings

The Lynx travel south for a clash with the Wings. Learn about this matchup and my sports wagering predictions.

Preview

These two teams are on opposite sides of the standings. Minnesota currently holds the second-best record in the league, while Dallas has the second-worst.

Minnesota Lynx

Minnesota has their eyes on the first seed in the upcoming playoffs. They have been rolling since the Olympic break winning all six of their games post-break and seven overall.

Thanks to their highly efficient offense and suffocating defense, all six victories have been by double digits.

Minnesota has been scoring 90 points a game over their last six, seven more points than their season average.

Defensively they are allowing 78 points a game. The point differential is truly impressive.

Dallas Wings

The Wings are finally healthy this year. The following players have all missed at least ten games this year.

  • Maddy Siegrist

  • Satou Sabally

  • Natasha Howard

With all three of these key players back the Wings are riding a two-game win streak as they host Minnesota at State Farm Arena.

Dallas had their most impressive win of the season last time out by defeating the two-time defending champs Las Vegas Aces. Winning the high-scoring affair by the score of 93-90 they showed this team’s potential.

Dallas’ biggest flaw is their defense, allowing a league-worse 90.8 points a game. And over their last five games, they have given up 96 a game.

Prediction

I’m going to have three plays for this game. I normally don’t invest so much in a matchup but I’m very bullish on the Lynx.

As stated above the Lynx has been extremely dominant post-Olympic-break with a healthy Napheesa Collier. Collier aka Queen Phee is coming for the WNBA MVP. Her odds have gone from 100-1 to 30-1 on Fanduel to take home the award.

Phee has scored in double digits in all six games since the break, with two 30-plus points games. Her outstanding play lead to her being awarded the Western Conference Player of the Week.

The WNBA All-Star MVP Arike Ogunbowale will be tasked tonight with being the tip of the spear against this hard-nosed defensive-minded Minnesota team. But I don’t think even she can keep this game close.

Official Picks

Collier over 21.5 points

Lynx -7.5

Over 169.5 points

Collier’s offensively should dominate Dallas. A’Ja Wilson just went off on their frontcourt for 42 points. I expect Phee to drop at least 25.

The Lynx are 5-0 ATS last five and there are many trends to back this up.

  • Lynx are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

  • Lynx are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win.

  • Lynx are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight-up win.

  • Lynx are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a losing straight-up record.

The Wings do not play defense and I see the final score being around 95-80. In addition, the last eight between these teams have gone over.

I hope you enjoy tonight’s action and please gamble responsibly.
