Dallas Wings
Why the Wings are 6-19
The first 25 games for the Wings were disappointing. Numerous injuries have put a real damper on the season.
Odyssey Sims has only played nine games.
Maddy Siegrist has only played 13 games.
Natasha Howard has only played 13 games.
Satou Sabally has not played a game this year.
But the good news all four players will be back for the final 15 games. Let’s discuss the impact of these four.
Sim’s recent return has been welcomed with open arms. She is averaging 17.2 points a game on 53.5 percent shooting. It will be interesting to see if she can continue the momentum she is building.
Siegrist was an early season favorite for WNBA's most improved player before breaking her finger. The second-year pro had improved her points per game from 3.7 to 14.6.
Howard has been putting up impressive numbers in the last thirteen games. She is currently averaging 16.6 points per game and is pulling down 6.8 rebounds per game.
The player who has the chance to make the biggest impact and will help the WNBA All-Star MVP Arike Ogunbowale spread the floor is Sabally. She was last year’s most-improved player and first-team WNBA. She averaged 18.6 ppg/ 8.1 rpg/ 4.4 apg while shooting over 36 percent from beyond the arc.

80.8 opponent free throw percentage
9 offensive rebounds allowed per game
14.1 turnovers forced a game
Looking at the above stats it is very easy to see why the Wings are at the bottom of the WNBA Standings. Offensively this team can fill it up but defensively it has been a struggle.
Key Players
Arike Ogunbowale
- Arike has been killing it this year for the Wings. Arike is averaging an impressive 22.3 PPG/4.8 RPG/5.2 APG/ 2.7 SPG while playing a career-high 38.5 minutes a game. Arike’s rebounds per game, assists per game, and steals per game are all career highs to go along with a career-high three made three-pointers per game.
I’m excited to see what she does with the remaining 15 games after the Olympic break.
Teaira McCowan
- McCowan has played in all 25 games for the Wings with 24 starts. The six-year veteran is averaging 11.4 PPG and 7.3 RPG while shooting an impressive 56.5 percent from the field.
With Siegrist and Sabally returning it will be interesting to see how their presence will impact McCowan's minutes and stat line.
Remaining Schedule
The Wings find themselves only 3.5 games out of the eighth seed, there is hope for Dallas. Dallas will have nine out of their remaining 15 games at home. With homestands of five and three games.
But with four games against the New York Liberty remaining that highlights the hardest strength of schedule post-Olympic break for any WNBA team.
This team started 3-2 this season and had high expectations but it is looking like it will be an uphill climb for the Wings to make the playoffs.
